Portrait of legendary director William Wyler's mother, dated 1934 "Pancho," Mexican actor, posed for several paintings by Theodore Lukits. This photo, of a large pastel of Pancho with a bottle of wine, was in Lukits' archive; the whereabouts of the painting are unknown. It was dated 1934 ; at the time Lukits was painting his series of Mexican-American subjects.

Theodore lukits had an important solo exhibition at the Stendahl Art Galleries, who represented several major California Impressionists. Founded in 1921 by Earl Stendahl, the gallery concentrated on Pre-columbian art and then exhibited the works of Guy rose, Edgar Payne and William Wendt.
